Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 7:00 PM Friday, January 12, 2018 at 3:00PM Tryouts are held in the the Student Recreational Center in the Omni Gym!
Tryout Overview
Our tryouts are based on the six basic skills of volleyball (passing, digging, serving, setting, hitting, and receiving). Each person is allowed to tryout for multiple positions, but most just choose one. We use a form to evaluate a player's skill level, committment, and position. Our tryouts typically last for three days, but more days are added if needed. The decision of who makes the team is more than who is the best. We also base it upon attitude, committment, and potential. If you do not make the travel team, you are still able to practice with us throughout the semester and develop your skills. We have tryouts each semester, so you could tryout again at the beginning of next semester.
If you make the team, there are expected rules to follow. At the beginning of each semester, the player will sign a contract of committment. If any of the rules are broken in the contract the player will have consequences, which worse case scenario would be removal from the team. If a person is removed from the team, it gives a non-travel club member the opportunity to become a part of the team.
Any Georgia State University student is eligible to play. Alumni and faculty with a student recreational center membership is also eligible to play. We do not turn any member away no matter what your skill level. In addition, Georgia State Perimeter College students are now eligible to practice with the team, due to covered fees. However, Perimeter students are not allowed to compete in tournaments.
IMLEAGUES
In order to be considered a part of the team, a player has to be a part of imleagues.com. You create an account and join the women's volleyball club. Once you join the club, you have to fill out a player participation agreement. Your account will then be approved when the form is filled out.
